Where to Find Us at Home
The African Fabric Lady (AFL) storehouse is located on Point
Road in the coastal town of Hancock, Maine. (See map below) We
are OPEN BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.
Hancock is about 3 ¼ hours past Portland or 5 ¼
hours from Boston. It's just a little too far for a day trip
for most people outside of Maine. The easiest way to get here
is to take 95N to Bangor, then 395 to Rte 1A. In Ellsworth, 1A
joins Routes 1 and 3 through town. When the road forks, stay
on Rte1 for about 10 miles until you come to Hancock. Our road
is on the right.
Since we're not so easy to get to, we recommend that you include
us in your Visit to Maine during spring, summer or fall itinerary.
We are in residence in Hancock except for some time during the
winter when we may be found at our home in the Gambia, West Africa.
You might wish to join us there. (See Trips to Africa)
We are open by appointment. Last minute calls are fine. But
we do recommend that you call or email ahead to avoid disappointment.
